Well, duh it's explicitly labeled a gaming monitor. haha That's a good option as long as you're fine with TN panel viewing angles.

I honestly have no clue what that means, but I will be sitting like right in front of it.

The top and bottom of the screen may look darker than they should, because the viewing angle is only 160 degrees vertical. That monitor seems to have 170 degrees horizontal though, which is nice.

Hmmm... okay. Yeah I don't think that will bother me. I think it will serve it's purpose.

The only other thing I would nitpick about that monitor is that if you were to ever convert to PC Master Race, or want to use it with your PC as well, it's capped at 60Hz refresh rate. A lot of monitors these days are 120 or 144Hz, which is a noticeable difference for PC games. Since the Xbox One at this point only natively supports 60Hz, not a big deal for that.

Re: Monitor vs. TV: A Comparison

Right I got my desk built and ready to go. All I need now is monitors. Until my PC is built (which my friend will be doing) I have my laptop (which is basically a pretty good PC anyway) so I need at least one other monitor to hook my Xbox up too. Eventually I'll probably have three monitors so I'll end up just buying two more of the same at a later date. So any recommendations?

The IPS monitor I listed at the bottom of the op is really nice. Really good viewing angles and 9.6ms input lag. Acer R240hy 23.8"

I looked into it but I couldn't find it in any English stores. I either had to buy it through like U.S Amazon or som small third party site where it's imported and expensive. Unless I'm just being blind and an idiot.

Doesn't seem to be available in the UK. I would just recommend an IPS panel if you have been playing on a TV. You won't see a lot of difference between a 5ms response time IPS and a 2ms TN panel monitor. The harder spec to find is the input lag. You'll have to do some googling to find that. You want less than 10ms input lag.

Swift if you are still looking at monitors, this seems to be a good choice.

I wasn't able to find an exact figure on this models input lag, but Asus's other models similar to this have very good input lag. This model is probably around the same.
