Origin of your GT...

Wed Nov 05, 2008 8:08 pm

Well I was just wondering how some of you guys got your GT (or account name on the site).
Mine's kinda weird but w/e
Well when I was about 7 and my bro and his friends were 10 they made this nickname for me. Well my middle name is Peter and they took that and made it Peterson since they called me that in a video they were making for school. Well then they started to call me Sinwolf or Sindog (Don't even ask how they came up with them cause even they don't know plus they were like 11) Then since that was really weird they just started to call me Sin. Then when my bro was 14 and I 11 He started to play BF2. His name on the game was PossiblyCanadian . Well being 11 and wanted to be like my big bro I made my name Possiblysin. My bro soon got rid of the name and changed it to Ceslayer. I decided to keep my name since I really liked it. On X-mas last year when we got our Xbox 360 we decided that our name should be Posiblycanadian since I wanted Possiblysin but this seemed like a fair compromise. I still use possiblysin for any thing online I join.
(On a side note I've been asked how we got the name a number of times and we just got it from the movie Dodgeball, during the intro to the dodgeball tournament the announcer says "We're gona separate the men from the boys, the something from the something :FAIL: and the Swedish from the Possibly Canadian. And then my bro's friend said an inside joke that we knew and we all just cracked up.) So thats the long story of my name.

mine is not that hard, its that I have always been interested into world war 2, and my grandfather was in it. I never met him. He worked the cannons in the 2nd Infantry division. So out of respect, I named my account after him: cannonman1944.

BTW, I was born in 1994, not 1944 :FP:

I was doing schoolwork, and when I moved my fingers to take a sip of my hot chocolate, it had gone cold. Of course, it's not called cold chocolate, so I thought about the term "cold hot chocolate" for a while. Obviously, it refers to hot chocolate that turned lukewarm. I just thought this was a pretty badass name, so I used it as my gamertag. People often think that I'm a girl though, because it sounds mildly girly-ish (I guess? Subjective I suppose) and my armor is pink, until they hear my voice. And my pink armor is another old joke between me and my friends, but that's another story.....

One day, a long time ago, i got home from school. And as soon as i walked through the door, I said "Criporc". Ever since then i've been using it for various profiles and stuff.

Originally I had MATTFERRET as my names matt and my nickname since early childhood was always Ferret.
I stopped using that tag for everything online after i had to change some account details, so to make things easier i changed everything else so I would remember it all.

It was changed to ITSurabus which is Subaru STI backwards, I thought it sounded a bit oriental (it-sura-bus) but everyone had problems calling things out online and people said your-a-bus..... so I hated that from day one.

I had free points sitting around and thought of changing it to something else that I can identify with.
Zer0 Vis came up after a shortlist of three (Zer0 Vis, SV650, Dogfish) SV because of my bike, Dogfish because i love swimming in an area where loads of dogfish are, but i settled on Zer0 Vis as my tag because i do alot of Scuba Diving in pretty bad conditions, the term known as zer0 visability. Also my eyesights not 100% so it fits perfect.

summer camp, my friend (darkkillre)'s nick name was studmuffin. during the camp (it was a crappy camp), we started talking about how we wish we had gone to this james bond paintball camp (007)

after his girlfriend and him had been going out for a couple of months, i started stealing it and saying "you cant be a studmuffin anymore, shes got you whipped"

and thus, studmuffin007
soon changed to studdmuffin007 after found out someone had the name

My cats are totally insane. We grab 'em by the scruff of the neck, and slide them across the floor into a bunch of plastic bowling pins. Then they get up and come back for more. So that started off with the whole "Bad Cat" thing. The Rabiez part... that's more complicated. Suffice to say it involved my dad and a bag of old toenail clippings. :FP:

AGRITATED evolved from an argument with my brother we just kept going around in circles and i ment to say irritated or aggrivated but when i opened my mouth all that came out was this horrible bastard child of a word that became my gamertag. i like it because it sounds cool but some people just asume im an idiot. and the g/t fits most of the time im walking around agritated at stupid people so the tag fits

My buddy Sw3rots who was one of the first people I met playing XBL when Star wars Battlefront 1 was new. I played with him and we had fun. I didn't add him to my friends list untill like a month later when we were joined up again, and I remembered his name. Since then we've been friends. He's changed his name several times. From Sw3rots to SolarPhenix to something else, but i'm getting to that.

When I first got XBL, my gamer tag was CDD DOM because I played a game called trackmania, and I was in a clan and the tag was CDD, Dom, which is short for Dominator (cool back then when I was like 9). I then changed it to XxDOMxXxALEXxX because I got tired of being called condom. Then my buddy Matt (Refer to above statement) changed his name from SolarPhenix to Apathy Empower, and his frien Sky's gamertag was Apathy Embody, I wanted to join the Apathy E club and called myself Apathy Enrage. Since then, matt's changed his name twice and decided on HLGtc SnArF (or close to, I can't check exactly right now). He's probobly the best friend I have in RL, even though i've never actually met him, seeing as I live in ontario Canada, and he's in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Admitedly, my handle has a nerdy background. I have a friend who in high school was into comic books and role playing games. For poops and giggles, I decided to check out his little comic book character role playing game that he had found. When we randomly 'rolled' out a character for me to use, I ended up with the power of the Human Torch. He gave my character a background of coming from a psychiatric hospital and we put the two together to come up with "Psyfire."

After a long time of using "Psyfire" on everything virtual. I had register e-mail addresses, an original X-Box live account, and many other places requiring registration. Over time I had forgotten most of my passwords and security questions. When I had to come up with something else, I mostly was concerned with keeping the name I had already established for myself. I also did not want a name with any numbers in it. I think adding numbers means that there is already something out there with the same name, so a person had to throw a number on it intead of coming up with something original. Therefore, I just tried to add on 'man' to the end of my handle, and it worked. It did not even cross my mind that people would think that I was an actual Fireman until somebody brought it up in a pregame lobby for the first time.

So, if we are in a game or something, please just refer to me as Psy, Fire, or Psyfire for long. Or if you want to call me by my real name, Chuck or Charlie - I prefer Chuck, but some people already have that name, and it is currently in some handles.

P.S. - My gammertag, N64, was completely random. I started up my Live account and there is was. I am not changing it, and I think that is it FANTASTIC that I am tagged after Nintendo on a Microsoft console. Plus, I know that there are onle a rare few that have N64 as a tag.

Of course, mine is inspired by Star Wars, but it gets even geekier than that. On most Saturdays I play a Star Wars RPG with a group of friends, and my GT originated from a character that I made there...based on a character in the Star Wars EU (that's Expanded Universe for all you normal people) named Corran Horn.
Basically, the rest of the party were Jedi who operated within the influence of the Jedi Council (the one led by Luke Skywalker, not the Old Republic Council) and basically followed his orders. Well, my character had the skills and training of a Jedi, but lacked the belief in the Jedi Code and the duty to the Council, basically making him something of a free agent, or a vigilante. He was still a "good guy", he just took the law into his own hands and dished out justice as he saw fit. He also usually acted alone, venturing off away from the rest of the party in order to fulfill his own goals and purposes (something for which the Game Master hated me for since I ruined all of his carefully assembled plans  ).

Since I am a Star Wars fanatic, I figured I'd use that as my inspiration for my GT, and the fact that I played Halo MM much like that (going off alone to do things my way) before I met you guys meant that it was even very appropriate. Now I'm more of a Jedi Watchman, scouting out as much of the map as I can while relaying all the relevant info back to my team for their use. Unfortunately, this often times gets me killed, but that's the price you pay I guess. Of course, I won't be changing my GT anytime soon, since Vigilante is such a cool word anyway :geek:
