July matchmaking update is not too shabby

Fri Jun 28, 2013 6:06 pm

From The Halo Bulletin 2013-06-27:

- Big Team Skirmish replacing the current Team Objective playlist:

Big Team CTF - Longbow, Ragnarok, Complex
Big Team King of the Hill - Exile, Longbow
Big Team Regicide - Complex, Settler

- Dominion

Modified the resupply of the bases to provide mostly Loadout weapons and grenades rather than a large number of power weapons.
Added a brand-new game type named Lockdown. This new mode focuses the action on one central base that both teams must fight to control. The scoring settings are as follows:
    Spoiler: show
    Score to win: 100
    Capture Points: 0
    Standard Capture Time: 1
    Fortified Capture Time: 5
    Fortify Points: 0
    Fortify Time: 15
    Resupply Points: 10
    Resupply Frequency: 25
    Last Stand: False
Updated weapon and power-up respawns across the following maps in Dominion:
    Spoiler: show
    Exile
    Overshield near Blue spawn
o Repawns in 90 sec (86 in Forge)
    Sticky Detonator above Red spawn
o Respawns in 120 sec (116 in Forge)

    Longbow
    Shotgun near each spawn
o Respawns in 120 sec (116 in Forge)
Rocket Launcher on back beach in between Alpha and Charlie
o Respawns in 120 sec (116 in Forge)

    Meltdown
    Needlers in each teleporter bunker
o Respawns in 60 sec (56 in Forge)
Fuel Rod Cannon on main bridge
o Respawns in 120 sec (116 in Forge)

    Vortex
    Concussion Rifle near Red spawn
o Respawns in 120 sec (116 in Forge)
    Sniper Rifle near Blue spawn
o Respawns in 120 sec (116 in Forge)
    Energy Sword underneath Bravo
o Respawns in 120 sec (116 in Forge)

- Action Sack

New map for Mini Slayer: Napoleon. Uses a blocked-off section of Complex’s central cliff-side base and provides compact, arena-esque chaos.

This update is live on Monday.

I'm excited for Big Team Skirmish. It's surprising that BTB is their #1 playlist, so I'm curious to see if those numbers transfer over to this one.
I buy books like some people buy shoes.

I think it's the most popular because you can fill your ordnance meter the quickest there and that gives you powerweapons wich mostly results in easy kills.

Except for all the BTB Slayer Pro games without ordnance.

It's probably popular due to the laws of party bloat. On a very regular basis any party I am in will slowly grow until it's at 8 people, unless we actually tell people "No, we want to stay small". It's just natural to say yes to people who want to join and once you reach 7 unless you want to split the party it's off to BTB.

So a big team playlist with only Ragnarok, Settler, Longbow, Exile, and Complex? No Meltdown/Vortex. The only bad map is complex. Count me in!

Agreed.
If people didn't played it yet, you should avoid KOTH on Longbow. Scorpions,Banshees and more :?

CTF on Longbow is fun but Kinda hard to get a flag pulled.Same with Ragnarok.
Since the Mantis Locks down the map quite a bit and the DMR and LR shoot across the map it got harder than ever.

PS: Got my cousin a Killtac on the chaingunn in Regicide on settler :)

Had TONS of fun in this the other night with an OcR crew. My only complaint was it was hard to find matches. I think between the new playlist and us being a full party the system was having a hard time finding us games. But it was good to see some other hardcore BTB groups out there ready to play old school team Halo.

Only thing we didn't get to play was Regicide, which I'm worried as a BTB game won't work as well, but I am more fond of the team based then the FFA version so I want to try it. Otherwise had generally positive experiences on all the maps with most of the gametypes. Yeah Longbow KotH with all the vehicles is rough, but the scorpions are actually surprisingly easy to take down with all the cover. Hogs and the banshee are much more maneuverable and useful there.

Looking forward to more!
