Discussion on new Revball

Wed Apr 27, 2011 3:19 am

Well, I've started messin around with Reach again recently after a hiatus and finally got to play the new hockey gametype in action sack. Now that scoring and ball return are AUTOMATICLY done by the gametype for FREE, looks like a complete redesign of revball is in order. Look for me in forge the next couple weeks to give your imput on some aesthetic changes with the 4000 or so budget it looks like i be saving lol. Not to mention the new noise makers.

On a further note, I was contacted by someone from 'the spartan life' (i think thats right?) who wants to put revball in a video on Halo Waypoint soon. Looks like this game is still drawing interest.

PS. The map designer of the original bungie hockey gametype may have outdone me on ball return and workin scoreboard, but man, that game blows in action sack lol. Just total fail. Who picks these games for matchmaking? :(

Cannot wait! Will be great to see it on waypoint. Definitely better than the rubbish in action sack at the moment, just needs to get Bungie's attention.

Keep it up Wheels ::thumbs:: !

Saw an interesting video on youtube. Seems someone has pretty much copied my map and already made the new gametype mods to it. One very interesting thing is he added a 3 pointer goal. At first i scoffed at it, but the idea has grew on me. Would add a new intricacy to the game, as long as it is a rarity actually hitting it.

Here is the video of his map. Hate to say i think i like his better than mine...

You still have time to make the proper alternations to your map. I would advice you to do this soon when you get the chance so I can pass it along to the right people.

I love this game!

Wow I do like what he did with the starting spawn being off the map so extra vehicles are not in the game. But the other guy uses every dollar. that will create lag.

We need to playtest his map to see how laggy it is, especially with 8 revs instead of 6.

I have made alterations to mine. All i need is sugestion on what noisemakers (that shoot skulls when you score)should look like and im finished.

PS...Pirate, the last version of splatterdome had a garage like that, but i dont think played a single game there. Besides last couple days, aint played revball since novemberish.

Current version of map has garage removed and vehicles on main field, cuz if its matchmaking it always have 8 peeps.

Also need sugestions for game score/timer.
I'm thinking 10-12mins with 10 score to win.
Old game was 10mins and 5 score but figure in that it took 20 secs to get ball back after score and that adds up..and still the game usually ended early at around 6-7mins. Gameplay is faster now and 3pointers need to be factored in.

Other words...playtest time!

EDIT: I would LOVE unlimited scoring with just timer like real sports, but has bungie ever put in a gametype like that?

Haven't really played much rev-ball but 10-12minutes seems appropriate.
