Anyone ever created this yet? A map where you use warthogs to knock around the soccerball into a goal? I tried messing around with it in forge one day but I kinda suck at mapbuilding. Anyone wanna help out?

I know you can only get about 6 hogs on the maps except 8 on ratsnest which i think is ill suited for this gametype. So the game could only be 3 on 3 unless it was somehow made where the gunners could manipulate the ball as well. From what I have observed, only the gauss is effective at moving the ball, not the laag.

lemme start up the forge and look into it...I'll see what I come up with and share the results. the problem will be keeping score, I'll see what I can do with that.

i know there's a map out there that's for this and usingn a little bomb plating room when you score to keep score... obviously the honor system, but not a bad way to do it

Or you could fix up the scoring system used on the Air Hockey map Kobe got from Forgehub. You would just need to fix the teleporters; it's a pretty good design.

For those who have not played the map:

The idea is that you use bruteshot and rockets to knock the soccerball into the opponents goal. Ostensibly, it goes to the back of the goal, hits the mancannon, goes to the back, and knocks a dumpster off a receiver node, then you can use the teleporter in your shooting platform to enter the now-unblocked scoring area to score the flag.

Yea, I just think that hogball and the demo derby would be good gametypes to practice hog-on-hog ramming tactics.

I have an arena with goals set up, I just need to smooth out the corners so the ball won't get stuck, and then figure a scoring system. Hope to be done tonite!

EDIT: I'm no longer going to even try making maps for these customs as the person that requested this couldn't even take testing seriously. :FAIL:

Anyone have a link to that game with the real scoring system?

I don't see what there was to test. With no real scoring system it wasn't a serious map. Lots of other tweaks needed to be made too like player damage, speed, etc.

I tried messing with it today but I SUCK at forge. I don't see how you people have the patience for it. Manipulation of a single object is a chore.

Basically Il Duce's game needs player damage turned off, a way to keep warthogs from getting into the goals and subsequently getting stuck in teh grav lift, and a scoring mechanism.

The best ways I have seen are the one mentioned earlier where either the grav lift sends the ball up in the air to knock over an obstacle blocking the reciever teleporter to the scoring teams bomb. Either that or the soccer ball blocks the reciever node itself, thus allowing you to walk through a nearby teleporter without it teleporting you. The bomb is behind the sender node and you couldnt get through it before because it would port you.

The other way I have seen is that the ball goes into the goal and falls into a pit on top of and blocking a teleporter. You now walk over the ball to get to your bomb. Previously, if you tried to go in there, the teleporter would just send u back to the middle. Of course, player gravity has to be turned up so u can't jump the teleporter.

player damage was off, you need the gametype too. There is no way to turn off the ability to jack hogs; you just need your teams to act mature once in a while to have fun. Just because in real soccer there is no way to keep someone from elbowing their opponent in the jaw you don't see it happen..or alternatively RED CARD!! which is what i did to you.

I've been workin on this today. Do you think you could add that map we played to ur fileshare so i can compare? Originally I envisioned this game on avalanche, sandtrap, or standoff. I kinda enjoyed your map though. I'd really like to make a fully functional game where honor system isn't needed. That means jacking would be legal. I suppose player speed/gravity would have to be changed to make it harder to do. The only problem remains is stopping people from using the gauss turret. Have ideas on scoring mechanism, but still trying to get it to work. I SUCK at forge.

I am so BLAMing mad. I don't think this is ever going to work. There is no way to make a goal that the ball can get into that the hog cant. I was VERY surprised at the shocks on the hog. It can squeeze down to go thru very small spaces. I put 4 soccer balls on the map and then put a bridge on top of them, then removed the balls. So the bridge was EXACTLY the height of the balls. They would BARELY go under if you hit them hard enough. However the hogs STILL get stuck under this space.

Any ideas?

Have you tried limiting the hole's width, rather than height?
