Team and Party

Sun Aug 08, 2010 9:10 am

OK, I am proposing that all of us play on Team and Party for our matchmaking voice settings. I know Sarge has drilled this into many of our Helljumpers, but I think all of us need to consider it. We are a community that follows the GGN guidelines so we shouldn't need to communicate with the other team other than say "Good Game" at the end. Often times, someone on our team will get into a conversation with someone on the enemy team and doesn't allow us finalize our strategy in pre-game. So, if everyone in the party agrees to play on Team and Party, then we won't have issues with players getting in arguments and disrupting our strategy.

It can also be important during the game, heres an example. One time we were playing a game against xxxossxxx and his party. We pulled laser off the start and I was holding it at our teleporter. They sent a Hornet around the bend, but before I lasered it, a camo guy jumped off and crouch walked up to our teleporter. As I'm standing there I hear "One second I'm about to kill the laser guy." I quickly switch to rockets and blow him up and almost point blank. If he had been on Team and Party, then I never would have heard him and they would've had laser. The exact same thing can happen when pulling a flag. If you're in their base and you see and opportunity to pull a flag, but you're surrounded by enemies, you can't make a callout or alert your team you which way you are pulling it without alerting them to your presence.

So please, play on team and party and only switch off if you see someone on the other team that you know.

Works both ways. If you had been on team and party, you wouldn't have heard him. And he would have killed you.

I will say that IMO the pros of doing this probably outweigh the few cons, so I would endorse this for ppl playing in a srs-fais party. I can not say tho that this should become the "standard operating procedure" for our community... After all, lots of ppl here now were just other peeps in a random game lobby back in the day when word of mouth was basically all we had. And I still think that lobby recruitment such as that is what has brought the best members in as they already know a few gents. So in closing, when you're in it to win it do just that, but that is definitely not what we are all about. We are an entity comprised of like minded individuals with a common love for the hog. We are an Internet based family who play for the good game. We are fun loving joke telling friend making badasses... We are wheelmen, and we must not forget it ::thumbs::

i agree with Laffy. I personally play on team and party, and only come off team and party to say hi to people we know. However, I am with RJ on his point. It is annoying when you're trying to divvy out roles in lobby and someone is herping and derping with someone on the enemy team, and then as the game is loading, they start asking about who's doing what, and they end up destroying your start.

Coded Communication.

i.e. To say I'm going to pull their flag, you say - 'This pole feels good'. Or something like that.

I enjoy talking to the other team (sometimes), and rarely make callouts in SBTB other then to say where someone is. However, I do see your point.

I like T&P because it gives us that precious time in the PGL to set up. I don't care about it as much in game, but I'd prefer if the other team can't hear me while the map is loading. Because that's when we'll be talking about important strategy like who will be playing what position, and what kind of rush we will make on Rat's Nest for example.

Also, whenever I forget to go T&P, the other team quickly reminds me. All I hear usually is screaming and yelling and other convos while I'm trying to listen to what my teammates are saying.

I dun like Team and Party. If there is a need to strategize at the beginning of the match, I just quickly mute everyone on the other team.

I usually do not run on T&P, but open to everyone to talk to simply because time and time again some loudmouth general or idiot is blabbering loudly in game and I hear them coming so I can get teh drop on them. However I don't mind going to Team and Party if the goal is to talk some serious strategy as a game loads, and I have no problem turning it on especially if a group wants to run and play and work as a team.

I do this too.
It's going to be quite interesting in Reach with the mute ban which you receive if too many people mute you. ::FAIL::

This is why Igo to pivate chat. I can hear my team through the head set, but I can hear the other team during pregame and in proximity.

wow hippo, didn't know you were that way...

but yeah it all depends on the party your in, if you want to really play to win as a practice for a tournament or such go to team and party, but most of the time its good to try and meet new people who may be potential new members, and i think its good to say hello once in a while and good game, just to show our kindness to randoms ::wink::

I used to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but now days matchmaking seems to consist of people who either trash talk, complain about every little thing, or the ultra competitive general who comes into the match believing he is the best player every born.

And I'm lazy and can't be bothered to mute everyone ;). Although sometimes I have to come out of my bubble to talk to people I know.
