Introduction: Brownpacolypse

Tue May 17, 2016 11:17 am

Hi HWM!

Sheehan a.k.a. Brownpacolypse here. Long-time FPS gamer (Quake 2 and UT were my firsts) and Halo lover since CE. Played tons of LANs in middle/high school in H1, got Xbox Live/Halo 2 at launch, and played a ton of Halo 3 in college (got up to Rank 42/43 in TS/Lone Wolves). Wasn't crazy about Reach/Halo 4, so took a break for a couple years until H5 came out.

Bought H5 at release and fell back in love with the series, but got really busy travelling for work/competing nationally on a dance team at the same time from December-April, and was not able to play with any consistency for those months (thus the relatively low Spartan level). Spent the last month getting back into the game and finally starting to get my shot/skill back, so I thought it was time to start really focusing on getting better (my K/D and win ratio have both improved significantly since when I started and was super rusty). Been watching VOD/YouTube to pick up more tips/tricks, and now would love to find a proper Spartan Company!

I love the community and teamplay aspect of gaming (former WoW PvP addict in Vanilla and TBC - grinded to Rank 11 and then was Gladiator multiple seasons), and want to find a great group of people that I can learn from, get to know, and enjoy developing strategies with! From your posts and forum, it seems like HWM is an awesome team where everyone shares the same values and goals related to H5 that I do, so I wanted to get involved in whatever way I can.

Welcome to the forums!

Also a fan of the Ip Man series and KOTOR. Did you play Mass Effect or Dragon Age by BioWare as well? What style of dance do you practice?

Welcome to the site, late night central square is a great gaming time and your movies/shows will draw many fans. Have you read the ASoIaF books or just a GoT show watcher?

Hi Sarge! Congrats on member of the month, btw. I played a good amount of Mass Effect 2 and loved it but left my 360 with the parents out of state unfortunately. Haven't found the time to play through Dragon Age although I've heard awesome things. With work lately it's easier to focus on one game at a time so I'm putting all my game energy into Halo. I was huge fan of Jade Empire by Bioware as well... basically they seem to kill it with everything they make.

As far as dance goes, I'm Indian (thus the GT), and my team does Bollywood, Bhangra and other South Asian styles, but we fuse those with western styles, especially hip hop. I'm into bboying as well so I usually help choreo in toprock, etc. Do you dance at all?

Haha, I'm glad everyone here has similar (aka good) taste :P . I started the first book and plan to get into the novels but have trouble making time to read for pleasure outside of work (lawyer so pretty much all I do is read/write). When S6 ends I'm hoping the withdrawal motivates me to get into them.

Ah I haven't seen Ip man 3 yet... I heard it came out but haven't found a solid stream yet. I'm crazy about the other two... Donnie Yen is just so casually badass.

Haha, glad you approve! I've had a huge poster of Russel Crowe as Maximus in my room since college, still have it up in my new apt.

I don't dance myself, but I have a number of friends that do. The cultural fusion you've described sounds like a lot of fun to perform.

Nice! Yea it definitely helped me get in touch with my Indian roots + build confidence by competing on stage! I basically quit WoW cold turkey early in college and needed a new addiction that was healthier so I started watching breakdance videos and trying to learn lol
