Clubs, LFG and You!

Tue Jan 24, 2017 5:20 pm

Clubs and LFG are currently aspects of Xbox Live that we aren't utilising to their best potential. Whether it be recruiting new members or gathering together a group of Wheelmen to play a game. Both features are simple to use and can quickly gather members to play.

Looking For Group
As Microsoft explains; Looking for Group is like a “players wanted” bulletin board for Xbox Live—a way to help you find players with similar goals and interests. Respond to posts created by people in the Xbox community (for example, “Need players for Warzone”). Or, create your own post—when enough people are interested, invite them to your party and play!

To respond to a Looking for Group post:
  1. Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide, select Parties, then select Looking for Group.
  2. Select a game from the list (this will take you to its game hub).
  3. In Looking for Group, browse or search for posts. Enter tags or keywords in the box to refine your search.
  4. Choose a post that interests you, then select I’m interested.

To create a Looking for Group post:
  1. Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide, select Parties, then select Looking for Group.
  2. Select a game from the list (this takes you to its game hub).
  3. Select Create post.
  4. Add tags and a description, then adjust the details, such as the number of players needed. You can schedule a time to gather by adjusting Day and Party start time, or if you want to gather people into a party right away, select Now.
  5. When you’re done, select Post.

After you’ve created a Looking for Group post, you’ll receive invitation requests from players who want to join you. As the creator of the post (or host), you’ll have to decide which players to confirm or decline.

To confirm or decline interested players:
  1. Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide, then select Parties.
  2. Under Upcoming, select the Looking for Group post, select # Interested, move the pointer over a gamertag, then select Confirm or Decline.
Players you confirm appear in your post’s Confirmed list.

Once you’ve finished confirming players interested in your Looking for Group post, it’s time to gather them into a party (unless you’ve scheduled the party for another time).

To gather confirmed players into a party:
  1. Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide, and then select Parties.
  2. Select the Looking for Group post, then select Gather your party. This automatically starts a party and sends party invites to everyone you’ve confirmed previously. (If you confirm anyone else after you’ve selected Gather your party, they’ll be sent a party invite automatically.)

Clubs
On the same tab within the Club you can also start a Club party which will show up in the LFG tab for others to see, but also it says our club at the top of the party. So if anyone were to join one and they aren't part of the club it's like having a banner advertising our Club on Xbox Live.

To join a party in a club:
  1. Open the Xbox button to open the guide, select Friends & clubs, then choose a club from the list.
  2. When you’re in the club, select the Looking for Group tab.
  3. If a party is joinable, choose it, then select Join party.

To start a party in a club:
  1. Open the Xbox button to open the guide, select Friends & clubs, then choose a club from the list.
  2. When you’re in the club, select the Looking for Group tab.
  3. When you’re in a club, select the Looking for Group tab, then select Start club party. If your party is joinable, people in the club can join your party immediately.
  4. Invite members or friends as you would with a normal Party.

LFG posts work across all of Xbox Live, however these features can also be used with in Clubs to make them Club specific. For example if we want to run a lobby for Halo we can throw up an LFG post in the Halo Wheelmen club and people can respond to it, likewise with any other game. This could be useful for gathering members for games Halo, Titanfall, Overwatch etc, we are always spread across a number of games and say "I'd play (game) if others were on.". Also instead of the lobby lead for an event having to go create a party and invite everyone, they can make an LFG post in the Club ahead of time that people can sign up too and then when the time comes they can hit Gather your party and everyone can join up on them.

Unlike a Spartan Company which is on it's own platform (Waypoint) and has no real way of connecting us to those players in them, our Club on Xbox live gives us a direct means of interacting with people whether it be through LFG, Parties or even just quick access to those online. Also, anytime you are in a club activity, whether that be a Party or a LFG Lobby, you are listed as being "Here" this means that anyone in the club will be able to see your activity and when you check your friends list the Club will be listed above your friends. If we were to start recruiting more people into the club this will be useful getting said new members into games and lobbies.

I think both these features we don't utilise so I figure we should all try to use them more. They are easy and help connect us better through Xbox to the wider community. Sooooo yeah!

Welcome to our site. Check out our calendar for events you can sign up to play, or our chatbox is always a good place to find people to play with.

We could definetly use the LFG sections in downtimes when we have partial lobbies filled etc. Great post Swift!
