Welcome to the site.
Oh how I miss Lockout, some of my most vivid memories of Halo 2 on that map.

Yo hey! Good games the other night. So, if I remember correctly, you are the driver?

Welcome to the forums. I'm glad to see hog duos are still finding their way here.

If you enjoy cooking, you'll be happy to know we have an entire subforum about food and drinks. We have very strong feelings about pizza around here.

Haha, classic. So many drivers are all like "Gauss! i'm gunning, need a driver!"

One theory I have about why this phenomenon happens is that with the chaingun, the driver is more responsible for keeping the hog alive. Whereas with the gauss, its mostly in the hands of the gunner (at least that was the case in halo 3, when I though about this. because gausses were only available on Heavies, where there would be lots of lasers and snipers that the gunner would have to kill quickly). So the point is that I think people who like driving like being depended on to keep the hog running. And relinquishing that control is hard. You'd need a gunner that you can trust in the gauss, otherwise you'd rather be the one to miss a crucial shot on a laser.

Wow I've never really thought about it that way but it makes sense. I definetly feel responsible when we get blown up or damaged to much when driving. and with the guass you can eliminate threats so much faster. Giving up that control is very hard and unless I know the person driving, i'm very hesitant to jump in a hog with a rando. It also just works out for myself and iceburg because I am more of a precision weapon player and he is a fast fire close range player. I like DMRs, Snipers, and Lightrifles while iceburg like SMGs, shotguns, and swords. so for us it just feels natural for him to chain gun while I guass.

Criporc trusts me to shot the Gauss gun or doesn't trust me to drive it :) ...
If you guys get on tonight we should try and run some mixed and dual hogs.

He owns the responsibility of keeping the hog viable when he's driving. He can stay.

Yeah Dance!

Everybody, Danceparty is my Wheelman! Hahah!

I blame my lack of gauss gunner skill on lag... but it's really because as Dance said: he's the precision guy, I'm the melee, smg etc guy.

But yeah. We've promised each other not to get into hogs with strangers because it seems to inevitably lead to them driving us straight into oblivion. Dance is excellent at defensive driving. I work on it but am not anywhere near as good. I really enjoy riding with him because we basically maintain a continual communication chain. I try to constantly call out situational awareness and opportunities and then he evaluates. He always watches my shield flash and keeps us safe. Except from railguns....

Dance and I did pretty well on our first jogging blind date. Some btb maps are terrible for hogging. Dance was money with rockets on altar. Would drive and gun again.
