The following story isn't about your favorite crouchwalking captain, M3CH4 N1NJ4. It isn't even about the Halowheelmen. They just so happen to bear witness to the story of a certain individual.
Today, the person of focus is rather a thing. It is a lone, corp gungoose that will come to be known as Golden Boy. Now, vehicles sometimes get mentioned in the tales players tell through the ages. Such glory hogs are toasted for weeks to come. But today, let me tell the tale of Golden Boy.
http://xboxclips.com/M3CH4+N1NJ4/faa85e ... 2b95c310eaHis story starts out like that of any vehicular req that is seen in warzone. A fellow by the name of mime monkey calls in the uncommon card to materialize the little gungoose.
As what happens with many reqs, they are used for one kill before the user meets an untimely end. The corp gungoose rests for a moment. Possibly awaiting the fate that meets so many lost reqs, exist for a minute and then vanish into oblivion after being pulled from some victory, silver, or bronze pack.
Not today.
http://xboxclips.com/M3CH4+N1NJ4/69bd19 ... d5ad179f29An opposing team member notes the gungoose and rides it. The corp gungoose reciprocates this saving act by providing kills. But this spartan was not so wise in his actions. And as quickly as he begins his new spree, it is cut short.
Then...
http://xboxclips.com/M3CH4+N1NJ4/c539d1 ... 31e1f91e87Perhaps it was fate, perhaps coincidence that a player named M3CH4 N1NJ4 just so happened to be on defense and respawn at the armory and notice the recently vacated seat of the corp gungoose. Whatever the case, the vehicle is saved from the clean up system that would have taken it to oblivion.
The two begin an amazing ride that would span for ages. A careful, deliberate driver maneuvers the Corp Gungoose into enemy territory.
The gungoose notes this caution and is able to make the kills that prevent the enemy from encroaching too far. And when a boss appears, the steed is not routed by the increasing enemy presence. The gungoose continues to do its best and slay what its driver wills it to.
Moves were made, perils averted, but then the pair meet their first crisis.
They are stuck.
Certainly it would have been easier to just get off the gungoose and spawn a fresh one. The req gained from this run definitely would have allowed for it. But M3CH4 knows what this vehicle has done, and he will not abandon the gungoose to oblivion. He will see this through for as long as the Golden Boy can keep firing grenades.
http://xboxclips.com/M3CH4+N1NJ4/f695a7 ... 5a7bfbf58cEventually, all adventures must end and the journey Golden Boy concludes with a showdown with the envious enemy team. They have grown jealous of this gungoose's exploits and have sought to make it their own.
In one final move, they've separated M3CH4 from his ride. But it isn't to be. The rider that has been through thick and thin knows better, and in a final act, forever frees Golden Boy.
